At one-oh-seven, this record occupies that liminal strip where downtempo still pulses like house, but the lights have dimmed and the bodies move closer. There is a lived-in warmth to the drums—organic, off-the-grid, breathing—while the melodic lines trace minor-key shadows across the ceiling, that 12A tonality colouring every synth wash with a bruised, 3 a.m. introspection. It carries a seven-out-of-ten charge that never bullies the floor, instead inviting a sway rather than a stomp.
I would slot this after the peak has crested but before the ambient exodus, letting its mid-tempo throb fill the room like smoke settling into velvet. It is Ninja Tune to its bones: clever enough for headphones, weighted enough for a system, and precisely the kind of atmospheric bridge that keeps the night’s final hour from flatlining.
