The Ninja on this record
I hear Jovonn’s Berlin refit lock into 122 BPM with an energy level that simply will not quit, the kick drum pinning the floor beneath taut, coiled percussion and deep-house utility. It moves with muscular efficiency; the musical touches are present, but they serve the groove rather than disrupt it, and by the second minute I am already treating it as a tool.
In key 8A the harmonic tension stays cool and minor, which makes this a natural fit for those 3 AM moments when the room needs propulsion without melodrama. It is undeniably functional—reliable, slick, and purpose-built for the mix—but that same professionalism keeps it from truly surprising me. I will drop it when the set demands momentum, not revelation.
