The Ninja on this record
At a steady 120 BPM in 9A, this record locks into an insistent, almost livewire pulse that refuses to let the room settle. The energy is high, yet Ost & Kjex funnel that voltage through rubbery, organic percussion and a leftfield melodic sensibility that feels closer to a band jam than a loop. It is deep house in chassis only; under the bonnet, there is too much mischief for the purebred stuff.
That oddball character makes it perfect for the pivot point in a set when the floor needs lift without cheapening the mood. The Diynamic pedigree is audible in the spacious mix, but the Baker's Daughter carves out her own corner, melodic and memorable, a track that earns its keep long after the kick fades.
