The Ninja on this record
At 115 BPM in the bright terrain of F# major, I hear this cut sitting in a pocket that feels more like a drawn-out breath than a sprint. The energy reads at a fierce nine, yet it channels that voltage into horizontal layering rather than vertical momentum—pads swell and recede, the kick lands with a soft, deliberate thud, and the groove feels humid, almost tactile against the skin.
In the booth, I’d use it as a transition weapon for the deeper hours, pulling the tempo back without sacrificing the floor’s concentration. It belongs squarely in a dublucid set where atmosphere is currency and every melodic phrase is given room to ache, building a room that feels spacious yet charged.
