The Ninja on this record

I hear this at 143 BPM and know immediately it is not here to negotiate. The energy is merciless, with snares and cymbals snapping tight against a low-end rumble that feels more Detroit wire than Berlin concrete. There is no fat, just lean muscle and a shadowy F# minor centre that keeps the tension dialled to maximum without ever drifting into noise for noise's sake.

For me, this is a 3 AM weapon: I would drop it when the room is already slippery and watch shoulders lock into the groove. It sits best in a peak-time techno set where electro syncopation can slice through four-on-the-floor regularity, giving the floor a jolt of adrenaline that lingers well past the final bar.
