The Ninja on this record
There is a deceptive current to this record: the tempo clocks a leisurely 107 BPM, yet the energy reads near-lethal, each bar swollen with tactile, organic texture that seems to grow out of the floorboards. Locked in the 8B key, the harmonic centre feels almost blindingly open, though the details—damp wood, smoked resin—keep everything anchored in the shadows. It moves like a ritual, not a race.
In the booth, I would drop this after midnight when the room is loose enough to lean into its weight. It is too slow for peak-time four-four bombast but too intense for ambient drift; instead, it carves out a liminal pocket where bodies sway rather than stomp. Let it breathe and watch the walls sweat.
